WET weather didn't stop villagers in Ide from attending their summer fete.

The event was held in the school hall instead of on the village green, but the atmosphere was jolly.

Richard Logan, of Exeter City Football Club, opened the fete, and during a short break in the weather children were able to Maypole dance in the playground.

Brenda Spivey, fete co-ordinator, said: "Considering the pouring rain we did very well. We raised £1,000 for the church.

"The children went on the bouncy castle even though it was wet and the goal shooting competition went on in the school field."
