Restaurant is set to reopen following fire
A CITY restaurant is reopening following a major blaze that ripped through the building last month.
Terry's Restaurant, in Sidwell Street, is set to open its doors to customers on Friday, February 17, with a newly fitted out and decorated restaurant.
As revealed in the Echo, the fire, on the evening of Monday, January 9, was caused by an electrical fault on an under counter fridge.
Terry Clarke, 60, co-owner of Terry's Restaurant, said there was so much smoke damage that the entire place had to be washed and redecorated.
The business has also had to replace catering equipment and ceiling tiles and it has installed new flooring behind the counter.
Mr Clarke said he was delighted to reopen the restaurant after the fire. He said: "Customers are welcomed back and we're all raring to go – so Friday will be a good day."
Kirsty Scott, 29, manager of the restaurant, added: "It's all a brand new restaurant and it looks great."
