Almost defying the laws of gravity the cheeky red squirrel stretched to its limit for a peanut from the hands of the staff at Escot House in East Devon.

I revisited the unique squirrel playground, which includes a typical wild environment sporting a very large oak tree set in a mini woodland. The whole area is secure ensuring that nothing can get in or out.

This week saw the first kitts make themselves visable having being born a few weeks ago, but their dad Big Red takes it all in his stride. I did see one of the youngsters very high up in the trees making it impossible to capture a quality image, but as for mum and dad, well they have completely accepted human beings and these perfect little animals come down from the trees to meet and greet everyone, giving you a fantastic experience of being up close to a red squirrel and being able to see just what a visually stunning little animal they are and wouldn't it be simply fantastic if these little squirrels could be re-introduced back into wild Britain.
