Rogers picks up more points
EXETER'S Lee Rogers maintained his 12th place in the 2011 pickuptruckracing.com Championship after the latest races at Donnington Park.
After a massive engine failure in the qualifying session during the previous event, Rogers and his team worked long and hard to rebuild the engine in time for the two races.
They also took the opportunity to add a fuel injection system, a change allowed within the rules this season.
Although he didn't have a chance to test his truck before heading to Donnington, Rogers was looking forward to giving it a good run. He picked up two 11th-placed finishes to add to his points tally.
However, he had to overcome more mechanical problems and wet weather, having opted to remain on slick tyres.
Race one was declared a wet race but, with the track drying, Rogers and his team gambled with their tyre choice, only to suffer when it started to rain again.
It was dry for race two, but problems with the gearbox and the back axle meant Rogers had to nurse the truck over the line come the finish.
Rogers has nine events left this season to try to improve on his 12th position.
