Roll up to witness animal kingdom's race of the year
The race of the decade is about to begin when the world's fastest ego-on-paws The Hare and his slow, steady, fell-walking counterpart The Tortoise arrive in the Westcountry next week. The Hare and the Tortoise is the brand new family-friendly puppet show from Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company directed by Niki McCretton. It pits slow, steady tortoise against speedy, greedy hare. They're fit, they're keen, and they're completely mismatched.
Family audiences are invited to witness this animal kingdom sporting event in the company of famous commentator Chris Canary. The loveable and incredibly dynamic puppets are created and directed by puppet maestro Marc Parrett who has worked with Bristol Old Vic, Aardman Animations and The RSC. Stuff and Nonsense has teamed up with leading early-years performance expert Niki McCretton to create an enormously entertaining show featuring music, comedy, ingenious puppets and the race to end all races.

One Darke Night! is a piece of theatre celebrating the writing of the late Nick Darke, incorporating passages from firm audience favourites like The King of Prussia and The Body as well as lesser known works including radio plays, diaries, letters and commentaries. On Sunday it comes to the Maker with Rame Community Hallat 7.30pm, as part of the Carn to Cove touring initiative. Combining a cast of versatile performers, simple staging and projected film this performance showcases Nick's exquisite talent for combining blistering dialogue, quirky characterisation and beautiful prose in plays which are as heartbreaking as they are hilarious. Head into the jungle to help Ellie find her trunk
There's a sweet interactive daytime show from Pitter Patter Theatre aimed at very young adventurers aged two to five and their adult companions at Exeter's Northcott on Sunday and Monday. Poor Ellie the Elephant has lost her trunk and the idea is to help Marvin the Monkey, Pauline the Parrot, Tilly the Tiger and Curtis the Croc to find it. An imaginative set, created from recycled materials, together with four endearing and comical characters, bring the story of Ellie's Trunk to life through songs, actions and play.
