Russian 'twins' get taste of city
RUSSIAN visitors from Exeter's twin city of Yaroslavl have had their first glimpse of life in Devon.
The party of nine visited Dartmoor and had a tour of Exeter. Eight women and a man from the Russian city were welcomed at the Guildhall by Exeter's Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Kevin Mitchell.
The White Ensign Club produced a lavish luncheon as the group received a talk about the club, and learned about Devon's history and culture. Julia Upton, of the Exeter Twinning Association, said: “They were show our culture, and we raised funds for a Yaroslavl church which helps the poor and needy.”
