Saints held as Parker sees red against Beer

REIGNING Premier Division champions St Martins almost suffered a shock defeat at Beer Albion after leading 2-0 with a two goals from Lee Parker who was then red-carded.

The Minster Park side who meet Beer again this Saturday, were dominating but, after Parker's dismissal, the Fishermen hit back to grab a draw through Jamie Trewick and substitute Justin Adkin and came close to getting all three points.

Leaders Hatherleigh Town needed a wonder goal from Mark Lake to win at a dogged Willand Rovers, who also had a man sent off.

Second-placed Feniton trailed Clyst Valley for half an hour until they finally got into gear to win 5-1. All the goals came in the last 30 minutes through Dave O'Connor, Andrew Jones, Charlie Selley, Kieran Johnson and Rob Pfeiffer.

Topsham led Budleigh Salterton with a Nathan Cooper goal, but in the last minute Carl Wilson struck to earn the Robins a deserved 1-1 draw.

Thorverton beat Exmouth Amateurs 2-1 with Lee Radford and Adam Langabeer scoring, but they had to hold on after Exmouth got one back from Danny Gould.

Dan Hardy and keeper Paul Fielder were outstanding for Thorverton.

Unbeaten Sidbury United swept into the new year with a 3-1 victory against Division One promotion rivals Witheridge.

Goals from Ashley Small, Sam Elstub and Dave Green sank Withy, whose reply came from Ryan Greenwood.

Leaders Chard Town, beaten 1-0 by a very good Bow AAC side, saw their lead cut to a point.

However, unbeaten Tiverton were left frustrated as their game at Colyton was one of 16 matches called off throughout the Devon & Exeter League.

Heavitree pocketed a point from a 1-1 draw at Wellington Town, and Culm United climbed out of the bottom three thanks to a 0-0 draw at Alphington.

Elmore are dominating Division Two after their superb 4-1 win against Bickleigh. Callum Old, Jordan Copp, Kevin Mills and Matthew Atkins scored.

Dawlish United are up to second after beating Pinhoe 3-0.

Civil Service were beaten 4-1 at Halwill, whose Simon James scored a second-half hat-trick.

Westexe Rovers were also shocked 4-1 by Clyst Valley, whose Josh Barlow (2), Dave Hood and Liam McMahon scored. Lee Dixon had the Rovers return.

Honiton got a narrow 2-1 win against Colaton Raleigh. Tim Genders and Ben Price scored. Chagford remain without a point after losing 1-0 at Sidmouth.

Dolphin moved into third place in Division Three after a 3-1 victory over South Zeal. Ricki Carpenter, Wayne Phillips and Daniel Tavender scored.

Newtown won 4-1 at Hemyock with Carl Lavis, Kyle Hall, Dale O'Donaghue and Luke Jones scoring. Thorverton won a thriller at Offwell 5-3, with goals from Liam Vanstone, Paul Elbourn, Alex Twitchin, Sean Windows and Luke Osmond.

Heavitree Social United opened a six-point gap in Division Four after their 5-2 win at Exmouth Amateurs. Trevor Anning and Ian Boyd with a penalty scored the Exmouth goals.

Newtown also won 5-2 at Exmouth Town with Phil Owens and Adam Kane both netting twice. Axmouth completed the trio of away victories as they beat Okehampton 5-3.

Division Five leaders Cheriton Fitzpaine were fully tested at Bow AAC before getting a 2-1 win. Mike Back and James White scored.

Hatherleigh won their top-of-the-table clash with Countess Wear 3-2.

John Alford was the match-winner for Culm in a 1-0 win against Topsham. Goals from Robert Adkin and Simon Smith also helped Beer beat St Martins 2-0.

Clyst Valley won 5-2 at Uplowman, whose Rob Hannah and Jamie O'Loughlin scored consolations.

Feniton are the new Division Six leaders after demolishing Exwick Village 7-1. Danny Lewis (2), Jamie Brimblecombe (2), Vince Loveridge, Louie Dyer and John French scored for Fenny after Ash Sparks gave Exwick the lead.

Amory Park Rangers suffered a shock 4-1 defeat at home to Dunkeswell, whose Steve Morris (2), Max Mckeown and Stuart Ward scored.

Amory Argyle were beaten 4-3 at Stoke Hill which was tough on striker Scott Butler who had all three Argyle goals.

Chagford enjoyed a 3-2 victory against Langdon 3-2 with Adam Pidgeon (2) and Tom Stanbury scoring. Dan Heagney and Luke Squires replied for Langdon.

Silverton lost 2-0 at home to what they felt was a stronger East Budleigh side than expected.

Fluxton are the new leaders of Division Seven following their narrow 3-2 win at Cheriton Fitzpaine.

Tipton St John slipped back after crashing 5-2 at Otterton, whose goals came from Phil Thomas (3) and Ryan Mitchell (2). James Gosney and Nick Feeney scored for the Lions.

Halwill move to third after they won 6-3 at Open Space International who just cannot get a win at Hamlin Lane.

Ali Rahimi, Ali Omrani and Hawker Seleaman scored for OSI.

Division Eight leaders Sidbury were beaten 2-1 at Bampton, but Alphington missed the chance to go top as they were held 1-1 by a battling Lapford.

Newtown drew 3-3 with Offwell with Alex Laffan 2 and Adam Somers scoring.
