UNIQUE stories of hope will come to life as part of an internationally renowned choir's visit to a Devon school.

Newton Abbot's Stover School will welcome the Watoto Children's Choir on Thursday as part of their UK tour.

The pupils will get to watch live performances from the choir and understand how the Watoto children live their lives.

The Watoto Children's Choirs have toured internationally since 1994, bringing a message of hope to many parts of the world, including Uganda, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil.

The choir is made up of children who are involved with Watoto, a charity set up in response to orphaned and vulnerable children of Africa, whose lives have been ravaged by war and disease.

Accompanied by adult choir leaders from KPC, a thriving local church in Kampala, Uganda, Watoto's performances blend African rhythm, contemporary gospel and ethnic dance.

Steven Lea, head of music, said: "Stover School is delighted to host this event for both our pupils and the wider community.

"To host an international choir is a huge honour and we know this will be an exciting day for all involved."

The choir performs to present Watoto's vision and to give audiences the opportunity to respond to Africa's HIV/AIDS and war crises."

The day will conclude with an evening concert by the Watoto Children's Choir in Jubilee Hall at Stover School.
