PUPILS will take part in egg races and rocket launches as part of a school science week.

Youngsters at The Maynard Junior School, in Exeter, and other across the county will be marking National Science and Engineering Week.

Among the activities they will build a boat from newspaper, which is strong enough to hold an egg and take part in egg races. There will also be rocket launches on Friday, March 19.

Headmistress Bee Hughes said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for students.

"By exploring scientific challenges in a fun and exciting way, we hope to encourage and inspire the next generation of budding scientists."
