Series of crashes on Devon's roads

Police and emergency services have been hard at work this morning after a string of collisions on the region's roads.

An early morning car crash left a woman injured and a road blocked in Budleigh Salterton today.

A police spokesperson said: "A black Vauxhall Astra came to rest on its roof on the B3178 and the male driver left the scene."

Police found a woman in the car on arrival at 3.24am.

She suffered minor injuries, said police.

The road was closed where the B3178 splits in Exmouth.

Police say enquiries into the incident are continuing.

A car hit a bank in Harbeton Ford at 7:10am closing the road at Wotton Cross.

A grey Audi A3 and a silver Ford Fiesta were involved in the crash.

No injuries were reported to police but both cars were left undriveable.

At 7:12am police were called to the A386 at Mary Tavy after two cars collided blocking Station Road.

Police say nobody was injured and a recovery vehicle has cleared the damaged vehicles.

Just after 7am a car hit the central reservation on the A30.

An ambulance was called to Whiddon Down and found the female driver suffering from minor injuries.

She was to taken to the Royal Devon & Exeter hospital as a precaution.

A recovery vehicle arrived at 8:20am and the road was cleared shortly afterwards.
