A SERVICE to give thanks for all those who provide a lifeboat service in Exmouth is being held this weekend.

Sea Sunday is an annual service held across the country to give thanks for lifeboat services and their crews with this year's taking place in the meeting hall at All Saints' Church, Exeter Road, on Sunday from 6pm.

Exmouth Town Concert Band will be providing some of the music.

Beryl Cole, assistant guild secretary for the Exmouth Royal National Lifeboat Institution, said: "We sometimes have the service down on the seafront but as the new boathouse won't be opened, the vicar at All Saints' has kindly let us use the church.

"The RNLI standard will be paraded during the first hymn by one of the crew members.

"They will walk down the main aisle of the church and present the standard to the vicar. Then in the last hymn they will do the reverse.

"It's quite moving as the crew are there. The idea is to bless and give thanks for the crew."
