HUNDREDS of shoppers in Exeter signed postcards to send to the Government registering their objection to the coalition's plans for a badger cull.

Members of Exeter Friends for Animals and local supporters of Viva! set up a stall in the city centre.

A spokesman for Viva! said: "We would like to thank the people of Exeter for the overwhelming support they showed for their wildlife.

"Hundreds of postcards were signed by city shoppers, telling the Government in no uncertain terms to keep their hands off Devon's badgers.

"These much-loved animals could be wiped out from large areas of the county.

"The plans won't work and, according to many scientists, could bring disaster by actually making the problem worse."
