MARTYN Rogers says he wants to see Tiverton Town feature alongside Sky Sports' Charlotte Jackson and Georgie Thompson before the end of the season.

Yet the Yellows boss is not expecting the Sky Sports News-presenting lovelies to descend on Ladysmead in search of an exclusive interview.

Instead the Tivvy chief would be happy to settle for seeing his side finish in the top half of the Southern League Premier Division — the only section of the table which features on Sky's 24-hour rolling sports news channel.

And after Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Clevedon Town, the prospect of appearing regularly alongside some of Rupert Murdoch's finest auto cue readers moved a step closer to reality.

Adam Mortimer plundered his first goal for the Yellows when he headed home Colin Marshall's corner with his first touch after coming on as a late substitute, firing Tivvy up to 14th spot in the process.

Rogers' men are now five points clear of the relegation zone and, while he is still wary of dropping back into the mire, the Tivvy boss is urging his players to continue the climb.

"What I am looking for over the next four games is for us to get six or nine points and then we will put ourselves in a half decent position," said Rogers.

"I don't want us to rest on our laurels.

"Two or three defeats will put us back in trouble. I want to latch on to the mid-table sides. I have said to the lads that we want to finish the season on Sky Sports by getting into the top 11 and we can do that."

Having come through one six pointer already this week, Rogers' men face another on Saturday when they travel to fellow strugglers Evesham United.

The Yellows then face another club struggling at the wrong end of the table, Merthyr Tydfil, at Ladysmead the following weekend.

Rogers said: "We were very good against Clevedon. I thought we battered them and the score wasn't a true reflection of the game.

"Now we have Evesham on Saturday and, if we put in another good performance, it gives us a great opportunity to push on."
