Why St. Margaret's School should be saved
My parents and I as well as all the other parents and pupils received an e-mail Friday afternoon, regarding the closure of our school: St. Margaret's.
I am a pupil in year 10, about a quarter of the way through my GCSE's. Due to the closure of the 6th form last year, my year shall be the most severely affected year whose education in qualifications will be affected (the year 11s shall have finished, there is no year 12 and the year 9s have yet to start their GCSEs). I have been told that Woodard Trust gave our headmaster, Mr. Lee Bergin, a time frame of two years to turn the school around, and it was on this understanding, it was the reason many people chose to allow their sons and daughters to continue their education in St. Margaret's and perhaps continuing to 6th form, and from a ground level point of view as a pupil, he has begun to do so successfully.
St. Margaret's is a phenomenal school, I had come from a rather unhappy situation to St. Margaret's and the school has provided me with a very familial atmosphere, almost at once making me feel happy and secure in my schooling. Because of this school I am a more confident happy girl, who is thriving in my education and extra-curricular activities because of the school's support from every person, from the support they give to every person.
I have not seen any direct interest in the school from Woodard, so how, without being in our environment, can they feel it necessary to close; leaving pupils upset and in need of a new school, teachers and staff without jobs and people left missing the school and each other greatly.

St. Margaret's is an exceptional school and is worth saving. I fully understand the financial climate, what with the confirmed triple dip recession, but is there really no way to save one the best schools in the Heavitree area? St. Margaret's has a reputation to produce wonderfully behaved young ladies who understand the importance of education and have the maturity to make important decisions whilst being compassionate and considerate to others.
As a pupil of the school I know that I will be doing all I can to save the school, and I'm sure my peers will be doing the same. It seems our governors and Woodard have given up on us, I but I certainly haven't. Please like our Facebook page: SAVE ST. Margaret's School and if you see any way to help save our school, please do.
