Sturrock demanding focus on League Two not FA Cup
SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock has urged his players to concentrate on league football and to forget all about a potential match up with Chelsea in the FA Cup.
The Shrimpers have been handed a potential money-spinning fourth round tie with the European champions after putting their name in the hat for the fourth round draw by coming back from two goals down to earn a replay against Brentford on Saturday.
They also faced a Johnstone's Paint Trophy area semi-final against Oxford United on Tuesday night, which saw them draw 3-3 after normal time and then win 5-3 on penalties to set up a possible to trip to Wembley in April.
However, speaking ahead of Tuesday's clash, former Plymouth boss Sturrock, said: "I'd much prefer us to be playing in the league as we want to get back on the rails after two successive defeats.

"But we take the cup competitions very seriously at the football club and it's an opportunity for us to bring funds in."
Sturrock also added that he was expecting a reaction from his players when they face Exeter City on Saturday, having suffered a dip in league form recently.
He said: "My boys are smarting from the two back-to-back defeats we've had and I'm hoping for a reaction.
"I think we can take confidence from the way we played in the second half against a very good Gillingham."
Sturrock is set to welcome Britt Assombolanga back from injury for Saturday's game.
It is likely former Grecians striker Barry Corr, who scored both goals against Brentford, could make way as a result.
Predicted line-up: Smith, Clohessy, Phillips, Cresswell, Prosser, Wooyard, Hurst, Laird, Timlin, Tomlin, Assombalonga
