MORE than 250 people of all ages took part in the second annual Exeter City Football Club Charity Santa Dash.

The event was started by the Lord Mayor Councillor Rob Newby outside the Guildhall in Exeter High Street and competitors dashed a mile to St James's Park stadium, surprising shoppers along the way.

David Evans, the club's youth commercial manager, said: "Exeter City really appreciates the effort everyone put in to raise money for charity, as well as the fantastic support of sponsors Stagecoach who promoted the event on its buses, and for JTT Contracting which organised the road closures."

By paying an entry fee and collecting sponsorship, the Santa Dashers raised money for a number of charities, which include the Exeter City FC Charitable Trust, the Adam Stansfield Foundation, Devon Air Ambulance, Help for Heroes, CLIC Sargent and Hospiscare, plus many more local charities of the runners' choice.
