THREE axed staff members at a Mid Devon school have received overwhelming support from angry parents who have launched a campaign to get them reinstated.

A petition with around 500 signatures was handed over to governors at Bampton Church of England Primary School yesterday.

Its organisers are calling for teacher Mark Woodcock and teaching assistants Sam Masters and Katrina Ascott to keep their jobs, cut due to funding pressures.

Supporters had planned to march to the school with homemade banners, but this idea was vetoed by police who said not enough notice had not been given for such a protest.
