CAPTAIN Matt Taylor headed home a 49th-minute equaliser to earn Exeter City an impressive draw with Coca-Cola League One big guns Southampton on Saturday.

The Grecians fought back after Adam Lallana had given the Saints a first half lead when he shot home after beating Steve Tully at the back post.

Jason Puncheon missed a golden chance to double the visitors' lead when he blazed over when clean through just before half-time.

And he was punished when Taylor forced home Scott Golbourne's corner. City striker Barry Corr could have won it for his side, but the ball got stuck under his feet and the chance was gone.

But Exeter can still take heart from a hard-earned and deserved point.
