Temporary bridge after floods
DEVON County Council is making plans to install a temporary bridge over the River Sid at Pennington Point following flood damage to the existing structure.
An inspection by the authority found deterioration of the mudstone rock since it was exposed by water from the July floods.
Proposals are now being developed to install a bridge above the existing structure without relying on the existing bridge piers. The council is anticipating completing the work within the next two weeks, when the Alma Bridge which is part of the South West Coastpath, will close for around two days.
Authority engineers are putting together a long-term programme
