TWENTY-three members of Honiton Sea Anglnig Club fished along Chesil Beach in search of the winter species like whiting and cod.

In all, seven specimen whiting were caught, all over the set weight of 1lb 8oz. The best fish fell to Terry Hartnell (2-11-8 — 180 per cent). Other fish caught on the night included cod, dogfish, pouting and sole.

On Boxing Day, cod to 8lb was reported from Chesil and Rex Hardman weighed in a specimen Whiting from the South Hams of 1-10-0.

The first club event of the new year will be the signing-on night at the Royal British Legion, Honiton on January 7 at 8pm.

The first competition of the year will be at Slapton Sands on January 9. Anglers should sign on at the Honiton Motel just before 2pm.
