I FIND it difficult to express my disgust at the thieves who broke into Tiverton Youth Centre and Castle Primary School.

You can't sink much lower than stealing equipment from children, can you?

Except perhaps by stealing equipment that they have bought with money they raised themselves.

Tiverton Youth Centre lost two televisions bought after youngsters took a year to raise almost £1,000. The centre had only had them for two months.

Castle Primary School lost equipment valued at £3,500 from classrooms which had only recently been reopened after refurbishment.

Perhaps it was the same thieves in both burglaries. In any event, they knew where to go, and were prepared for what they took, bringing a vehicle with them to the school.

Perhaps they were local. If so, there may be someone out there reading this, or who read the news stories in last week's paper, who knows who they are.

I certainly hope the police are giving these two thefts top priority and that anyone who knows anything gets in touch with them, because we just can't tolerate this.
