Tiverton second at the Imps' gala
TIVERTON swimmers finished in second place at the Exeter Imps' gala at the weekend.
Five teams competed at the Pyramids pool in Exeter and 22 young Tiverton members competed in the 49-event competition.
The team achieved an incredible 21 personal best times, with some excellent performances from the younger members of the team. Jake Stoneman, nine, took first place in the 25m fly, 50m breast and 100m individual medley. Callum Stoneman, 12, was first in the 50m fly and 50m back and 10-year-old Josh Gunn was first in the 11-and-under 50m backstroke.
Lucy Abraham, 12, was first in the 50m breaststroke and Caitlyn Tyrrell, 10, was also first in her 50m breast race,
Rosie Lepper, 11, won her 50m freestyle and Ross Clarke, 10, won the 100m individual medley. Will Klinkenberg, 10, was first place in the 11-and-under 50m freestyle and Emily Abraham, nine, was first in the 11-and-under 50m fly.
Sophie Whittle, nine, was second in the 10-and-under 50m backstroke.
Libby Morton, Jasmine Swanston, Isaac Hicks and Finn Stoneman all achieved good times in their first competitive meeting.
Libby Morton, nine, had an excellent start in her first competitive gala, taking second place in the 10-and-under 50m freestyle.
Tiverton coach Steve Carder said: "It was a fantastic result for the team and it was great that we were able to compete in every event achieving second place.
" The 21 personal best times show the squad's continued improvement."
The Tiverton club are competing at the Avalon Gala at Millfield this weekend.
