Axe Valley Runners

ALEX Todd finished second in the 10-mile Axmouth Challenge race – beating teammate Patrick Devine-Wright for the first time.

Todd finished in 59mins 39secs, with Devine-Wright third in 1:00.57.

Other AVR finishers were: Lawrence Power sixth in 1:03.12, Amy Greenhalgh first lady and 10th overall in 1:07.20, Martin Lascelles 10th in 1:08.31, Lin Lascelles 13th in 1:08.49, Guy Lavender 15th in 1:09.00, Phil Bayliss first over-60 and 16th overall in 1:09.15, Robin Britton 21st in 1:12.16, Chris Driver 24th in 1:13.59, Eleanor Wood first over-50 and 31st overall in 1:16.19, Dave Thomas 34th in 1:17.11, Steve Reynolds 39th in 1:19.57, Geoff Woodward 41st in 1:20.30, Martin Croad 44th in 1:21.37, Ian Clements 45th in 1:21.39, Chris Irving 49th in 1:22.55, Nicky Ingarfield 52nd in 1:23.55, Pete Hughes 53rd in 1:24.59, the same time as Ian Apps, Paul Johns 55th in 1:25.05, Lesley Westgate 59th in 1:25.57, Becs Creese 63rd in 1:27.30, Dave Mutter 64th in 1:27.50, Andy Sayers 66th in 1:29.40, Fiona Powell 67th in 1:29.49, Steven Lewis 68th in 1:29.50 and Sam Tooze and Claire Moles joint 73rd in 1:38.05

There was also a five-mile run that was won by AVR's Andrew Watson in 35.51, with Thomas Oarsman second in 38.33 and Jared Steven third in 41.47.

Other AVR finishers were: Mike Calvert sixth in 49.21, Jane Calvert first lady and eighth overall in 54.10, Teresa Coates second lady and ninth overall in 54.17, Heather Lowman-Riggs third lady and 10th overall in 54.55, Dave Braunton 12th in 1:00.12, Gavin Warren 13th in 1:00.22, Janet Woodward 14th in 1:03.06, Janet Cullum 15th in 1:03.14, Marilyn Hughes 18th in 1:07.07and Harry Moore 19th in 1:34.07

The first girl home in the 2k race for eight to 11-year-olds was Gemma Hodder, with Sam Taylor the first boy.

AVR's Indianna Powell won the girls' 11-16-year-old 4k race, Max Bowskill was fourth and Ethan Day fifth.

Father and son Mark and Tom Hilder took part in the First Chance 10k in Exeter on Sunday, with Tom finishing 59th in 40.13 and Mark 131st in 44.29.

Lesley Adams finished the Cannon Hill parkrun 5k in Birmingham in 186th place in 29.16.

Exmouth Harriers

Mike Musgrove had the best result for Exmouth Harriers at the First Chance 10k in Exeter as he won the over-40 category.

He clocked 36.07 for 17th place overall.

Other Harriers finishers were: Adam Miller 27th in 37.08, Richard Bishop 45th in a new personal best of 39.24, Chris Dupain 47th in 39.34, Ellie Sutcliffe 56th in 40.10, Andrew Johnson 74th in 41.17, Rory Devine 93rd in 42.22, Scott Jordan 121st in 44.03, Ben White 142nd in 45.03, Nigel Dupain 181st in 46.56, Mick Allen 276th in 51.30, Nicola Musgrove 322nd in 54.32 and Jim Wyatt 333rd in 53.25

Haldon Trail Runners

Two Haldon Trail Runners completed the First Chance 10k at Exeter, with Martin McEneny finishing in 41.51 and Nicki Ashworth in 47.44.

Ironbridge Runner

Ironbridge Runner organise a series of running groups that could help people get fitter in 2012.

All levels of runner are catered for, with coaches on hand to help people progress at the rate appropriate for them.

They also run several races, with the Follet Stock Great West Run on May 6 suitable for everyone from good club runners to those wanting to raise money for charity. On the same day there is also a 5k race on a flat route around the city centre.
