SMALLHOLDERS and farmers in Devon are being encouraged to take advantage of a 50 per cent grant towards the cost of training courses.

South Yeo Farm West, near Okehampton, hosts a range of courses ranging from an introduction to smallholding to living with livestock and a DIY website course.

The courses are run by farm owners Debbie Kingsley and Andrew Hubbard.

"We love people getting excited about what they can do, and going away with the practical know-how to get on with it," said Debbie.

"More people want to raise their own livestock, fruit and vegetables, and develop websites, but are daunted at what they might be taking on."
