Trams revived in society book
THE history of the trams that operated in the city is the subject of a new book.
Exeter Civic Society is publishing Exeter and the Trams 1882 to 1931, which will be launched on Friday, February 5.
It is based on a collection of more than 100 photos, most of which were lent to the society by tram historian John Perkin. Others were lent by members of the public after an appeal for their memories.
The book, which was written by Julia Neville for people interested in late Victorian and early 20th century Exeter, covers the history of the trams from when they were drawn by horses to when the last electric tram ran.
