Try a new map reading course
BUDDING explorers have the chance to attend a map reading course this autumn.
There will be two classroom sessions at Exeter College on Thursday, September 27, and October 4, from 7pm until 9pm followed by two weekend navigation walks on Dartmoor on September 28, and 29, or October 6, and 7.
Participants will learn about grid references, compass bearings, route planning, pacing and timing in a small and friendly group. The walks are around five miles in length. The sessions will be led by former adult education tutor Charlie Palmer.
Maps and compasses are available to borrow.
