There are three levels:
Intermediate – equivalent to five A* to C GCSEs;
Advanced – equivalent to two A Levels;

Higher – equivalent to foundation degree and Level 4 or 5 vocational qualifications.
The Government has also announced plans to extend apprenticeships to even higher levels of professional skills in the near future.
Apprenticeships have a minimum duration of 12 months, and can take up to four years to complete depending on the level, the apprentice's ability and the industry sector. They are open to anyone over 16 who is living in England and not taking part in full-time education.
