Union plans Valentine's Day protest in Exeter
UNISON South West members are planning to stage a Valentine's Day protest in Exeter.
The union claims it will be displaying a giant card outside Wonford House Hospital with the message "Roses are red, Violets are blue, we love this NHS and so should you". The demonstration in Exeter is one of four taking place in the South West, and is the latest in a series of public demonstrations by UNISON.

Jim Clawson, UNISON branch secretary, said: "UNISON and its members will continue to make our feelings known and campaign against the trusts in the South West who are seeking to reduce terms and conditions for their hardworking staff. "In this region, staff are working above and beyond in their efforts to provide the very best in patient care. The trust management really need to understand that they are putting staff goodwill at risk. People working in the NHS are the pillars upon whom society depends and are some of the hardest working people in the country – surely they deserve the very best terms and conditions we can give them?
"We believe the best is achieved through nationally agreed terms and conditions. In the NHS this is known as Agenda for Change. As part of their proposals the Pay Cartel had always maintained that they were waiting for the latest Agenda for Change negotiations to be completed before reconsidering their position.

"These discussions are now drawing to a close and it is likely these latest proposals for Agenda for Change will be agreed in the near future. As such we will be looking for each of the Cartel Trusts to commit to those national terms, and show they value their staff, rather than continue down the road of devaluing the NHS staff in the South West."
