Part shareholder of Swindon Town FC, Jed McCrory, has said today that they will not rule out the return of Di Canio however the new owners are keen to stress that job could go to any number of candidates at this stage.

Julian Tagg, Chief Executive of Exeter City, said:

Paul Tisdale favourite for next Swindon manager

“The case is still that there has been no contact – nothing, nil, zip, zilch.

I am still surprised about the speculation because Paul has proved time after time that he is committed to the club and the long-term planning that he talks about often.

Paul has shown in the past that is doing an exceptional job here and is a very talented manager – talented and loyal.

I speak to Paul all the time about things like this regularly but we speak more often about the young players coming through at the club and what can be achieved here than speculating about other jobs.”

Tisdale is still 6/5 for the Swindon job, with Mike Newell and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank both at 5/1.

---------------------------------------------

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has emerged as the favourite to take over from Paolo Di Canio as manager of League One Side Swindon Town.

Tisdale is currently 6/5 with SkyBet for the next Swindon manger, falling from 20/1 before the weekend.

Di Canio resigned as Swindon’s manger last week citing "a number of broken promises" as his reason for leaving.

Swindon fans have said they would welcome Tisdale as a replacement, with Swindon Town FC fan and blogger, Dan the Fan, writing for www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk:

“It would be pointless trying to find another Di Canio, in my opinion the new owners have to reach out to somebody who is nearly the opposite – a calm, relaxing influence on players but also proven in the game.

My first choice would be Paul Tisdale. He’s got plenty of experience having been a manager since 2001 at Team Bath and now Exeter City.”

However chief executive Exeter City Julian Tagg told BBC South West this morning:

"There has been no approach from anyone for Paul Tisdale,"

"Every time a vacancy comes up we expect Paul to be linked with it as he's a very good manager."

"It's up to Paul as to how he deals with those things, but he's not been tempted by anybody yet and I think it would be strange for him to leave us and go to a club which is £13m in debt."

Tisdale turned down Swansea City in favour of remaining at St James's Park in 2010, he said at the time:

"One day I will move on, when it is right to do so — but I am not looking to move."

“I'd be sorry to see him go. I've watched City play for over 45 years and the best football, by far, has been under Paul Tisdale's management. Two Wembley finals, a highest ever finish in League One and the possibility of an immediate return to League One this year.
I don't always understand what he does and I think he handles the Media badly (perhaps the Club could put him on a course for the latter) but I'd like him to stay.”

“Not sure where your information is from. Swindon have had far too much wrong reporting lately.
There is little or no debt as it was owed to the old owner and he has now written this off!!
Please lets move on now,,, lets play football!!!”
