WILLAND Rovers moved up to fourth place in the Western League Premier Division thanks to a 3-1 win over Wellington at Silver Street last night.

The home side made a sluggish start and should have been a goal down. But, in a magical 12-minute spell midway through the first half, they scored three times to effectively kill the game off.

Fittingly, given that the game had been preceded with a minute's silence for recently departed club follower Bob Jee, his two grandsons combined to put Rovers ahead in the 24th minute.

Russell Jee's corner was met at the near post by brother Danny's header and the home side were ahead.

Eleven minutes later a superb passing move saw Carl Cliff-Brown and Paul Pocock combine for skipper Rob Norrish to head home from 12 yards.

And it was 3-0 a minute later thanks to a magnificent goal. Cliff-Brown cushioned a dropping ball and, in a single movement, sent a 30-yard lofted pass to James Ansell, who struck it first time on the volley into the net.

Willand missed a number of chances in the second half before a needless free-kick was conceded outside his area by Rovers keeper Brian Cann. He was punished by being beaten by the free-kick.

Late in the game Cliff-Brown produced an unbelievable miss when, with the goal at his mercy, he somehow missed the target.
