WILLAND Rovers beat Hallen 5-1 to show their Toolstation Western League Premier Division title credentials and stretch their unbeaten run to nine games.

It took just five minutes for the hosts to go ahead when James Ansell was on hand to tuck away the rebound after a superb free-kick from David Steele came back off a post.

The lead was doubled in the 15th minute when Carl Cliff-Brown pounced on a defensive error, rounded the keeper and rolled the ball home.

Steele claimed the third when he headed home Russell Jee's parried free-kick and skipper Rob Norrish slotted home from close range to make it 4-0 at the interval.

Paul Pocock added the fifth shortly after the interval when he finished off after Cliff-Brown's shot was blocked.

The big striker the thought he had added a sixth with a clinical finish but was flagged offside and the visitors got one back just before the hour-mark from a corner.

Sub Joey Hawes only lasted 15 minutes as he was forced off with a suspected twisted ankle so Rovers had to play the final 10 minutes a man short.

Danny Williams scored four times for the hosts, with James Nichols and Simon Tuley also on target.
