A NIGHT of unrivalled wit is promised when a touring theatre company arrives to perform Sheridan's The Rivals.

Creative Cow has extended its 2012 tour of its latest production for three performances this month at the Theatre Royal, Windsor, The Key Theatre, Peterborough, and Tiverton Community Theatre on January 18.

The classic play, written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, received rave reviews from its performances country-wide last year and the company are pleased to be putting on the extra shows.

The play is described as a "delightful comedy of manners" set in fashionable Bath during the 1700s. It tells the story of a day in the life of a circle of socialites who swoop into the West Country spa city to take the waters, find romance and have a jolly good gossip.

Confusion, duels, madness and mayhem ensue in this hilarious period masterpiece.

Enter the fabulous Mrs Malaprop, with her famous twisted phrases, and her niece Lydia Languish, who is busy falling in love with the handsome Captain Jack. He, meantime, is being pushed around by his explosive father, Sir Anthony Absolute.

Tiverton-based Creative Cow was founded in 2007 by two professional actors, Katherine Senior and Jonathan Parish, and skilled artistic director Amanda Knott.

Amanda trained with the Royal Ballet School and went on to dance with Rambert Dance company for 10 years. She later joined the RSC as an assistant director and then became staff producer at Kent Opera before becoming the associate director at Plymouth's Theatre Royal directing many plays, musicals and operas. She is a freelance director.

Katherine said: "We're very excited about this production and performing the extra dates. It's a hugely enjoyable – and expertly crafted – piece of theatre which audiences just love. We've worked hard, and had huge fun, making sure we get the very best from it for our audiences.

"In other words, we're presenting a great night out and we're very much looking forward to playing it again this month."

For this production the company welcomes back Jack Hulland and Harvey Robinson. And for the first time, Kate Sharp and Lucy Theobald will be appearing.
