Women flock to enjoy hen night entertainment
FOUR girls, four guys, one hen night, plenty of music and a lot of surprises. Girls' Night Out might not pose an intellectual challenge, but audiences are certainly in for a good time.
Actor Joe Ransom says the audiences — "99 per cent of them are women" — are really up for a great evening's entertainment.
"The impact the musical seems to have is that by the end of the show people are dancing away," he says.
Girls' Night Out, which opens at the Theatre Royal Plymouth on Monday, is a story of love, laughter and men in thongs.
It follows the story of Jane, who is preparing for the biggest day of her life by embarking on a traditional hen night with the girls.
Meanwhile Tony and the boys are putting together the final touches of their make or break ladies only show.
"It's a surprise hen party and they end up in a strip club," says Joe. "The guys have lost their jobs and they are spending their summer in Ibiza stripping for money. The music is really up-to-date poppy stuff.
"For me, it's just a real fun, good night out for people. It is mostly girls — they leave their husbands and partners at home.
"It's men dancing and taking their clothes off, but it's done in a stylised way. It's not crude at all.
"It was quite intimidating when we started the tour. People would be shouting out and heckling. They love it.
"But the only response we are getting from audiences is how good it makes you feel."
Joe has to be fit to keep up with the eight performances a week and spends a lot of the day on tour in the gym.
"It's a very energetic show and you're constantly working hard. At the end of the show we have three fast dance routines back to back.
"We end our tour in Plymouth and we really want to go out with a bang!"
Girls' Night Out is at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, from Monday until Saturday, July 31. Box office: 01752 230440.

“She is using her real identity. Just not a true reflection of her actual self in real life ?”

“That's right Mr Hunt.
Gemma should buck her ideas up and use her real identity like you do.”
