Work has begun on a six-month scheme to widen a road to serve thousands of houses which will make up a new Devon community.

Motorists have been warned to expect delays after Devon County Council started alterations to a 1,100 yard stretch of the old A30, now the B3174. It goes from the new Cranbrook development, near Exeter, to the Clyst Honiton bypass.

The widening will create a westbound bus lane which will lead to the approach to the eastern access of the Skypark development. A footway and cycleway will be developed on the northern side of the road.
