Youngsters get a chance to dance
DEVON youngsters have the chance to dance at a special festival being held on Sunday.
The annual event, funded by Devon County Council and coordinated by Daisi (Devon Arts in Schools Initiative), will take place at the Barnfield Theatre in Exeter.
The 3D A Chance to Dance performances allow young people to celebrate their own dance work as well as sharing their work with other students.
"The 3D programme offers participation in dance at three different levels, giving young people the opportunity to develop their own dance ability and experience," said Peter Vanderford, from Daisi. "This gives them a chance to start at one level and move on to other strands as they develop."
The work of the Devon Youth Dance Company will be showcased at Sunday's festival, as will several solo performances.
This year, the company worked with internationally renowned dance artist Charlie Morrissey to create Colony.
Other pieces include Trick of the Eye by Harriet Lowne, In His Image, by Cameron Finnemore, and Ben Wisken, and Twins, by Lauren Musgrave.
Sunday's performances will be at 1pm and 6.30pm. Tickets are £6 (concessions available). Details: 01392 270891, or by visiting www.daisi.org.uk.
