Buy a bike and save money

Tuesday, August 12, 2008, 23:00

RIDING a bike is not only a green way to travel to work, it also radically cuts your costs. And now you can cut the cost even further by buying your bike through the Cyclescheme.

The first step is to get your employer to register on the website at www.cycle scheme.co.uk Once that's done, you can buy your bike through the scheme and get it tax free.

A quick bit of number crunching by the Avenger using the on-site calculator showed that savings can be substantial.

Let's say that the bike costs £350, the helmet £40 and there's another £40 worth of accessories. By buying through the scheme, you should save about £173.

Cyclescheme works in partnership with cycle shops in Exeter and the surrounding area, so it's simple enough to choose your new wheels and all the extra bits you fancy as well.

IF you're short of a pair of shoes, trainers or similar, check out Amazon's latest deals.

Simply go to the website, click on the type you fancy from sports to casual to formal shoes.

Then check the colour, the size and scoot through to the checkout to save pounds.
