Cameron's idea of relaxing day out
Whatever 'spin' his friends, and some elements of the media, try to put on it there is only one reason he is desperate for the return to legalised mammal hunting. It's not because the majority of the public want it. Repeated opinion polls have proved that a larger number of the population, (both urban and rural), are opposed to legal dismembering of live animals in this day and age.
It's not because there is a need for chasing and killing animals to protect other animals. Apart from well embellished, tired old stories, there is no need for such behaviour. So called 'pest control' measures exist — even though the need has not been proven, and more time and money put into better husbandry would be more profitable in the long term.
It's not because the countryside has come to a halt because of the Hunting Act. According to its own reports, the Countryside Alliance is thrilled its numbers are higher than they have been for years.
So it makes no sense to repeal it, does it? Well, it does if, like David Cameron, you and your friends' idea of a relaxing day is not complete without chasing and killing another animal. The rest of the population have to obey the laws, even if they don't like them: David Cameron, and friends, don't agree with this so they plan to change the law. Never mind if the majority of the country doesn't agree.
