EVEN the constant rain and drizzle wasn't enough to dampen my excitement at seeing Paul Weller and Florence and the Machine perform at the Eden Project.

Performing as part of EDF Energy's Green Britain Day and in support of the Prince's Rainforest Project, both artists kept the audience's spirits high and made us forget the rain.

Florence Welsh's performance was ethereal and beautiful; the stage was decorated in bird cages and flowers and, at times, her voice was incredible.

She sang with such conviction and power that she had the whole audience in raptures, with many saying that they had come purely to see her.

For a girl who has seen such a massive build-up within the music industry in the past year, it was fantastic that on this occasion she more than lived up to the hype.

Once Florence had finished, Tim Smit, chief executive of Eden, and Mohammed Alsam, a Maldives cabinet minister, spoke to the crowd about fighting climate change.

There was also a video message from Prince Charles and some other famous faces.

After the interlude came Weller, who performed a broad range of songs spanning his 35 years in the industry. From some Jam classics, including Town Called Malice and Eton Rifles, to more modern songs like You Do Something to Me and Wild Wood, Weller held the crowd's interest and kept us all dancing!

As for Eden, I keep going back to see bands there as the acoustics are incredible and the laser show at the end, with green beams lighting up the domes, makes for an experience you won't forget in a hurry.
