Cooking team close to dream

Friday, October 24, 2008, 23:00

JUST one final hurdle stands between an Exeter duo and their restaurant dream.

James Knight-Pacheco and Alasdair Hooper, of Exeter, have made it through to the final of Raymond Blanc's The Restaurant after proving their mettle.

A spokeswoman for the BBC said: "In the final, they must cater for a group of discerning guests on one of the world's most romantic railway journeys.

"With tiny kitchens, narrow carriages and the swaying train beneath them, the chefs must cook and front of house must serve a lavish five-course menu to discerning passengers, all under the watchful eye of Raymond and his inspectors.

"Ambition thwarts, menus are misjudged, memories fail, the wine disappoints and dud gifts leave guests perplexed — all packed into a journey aboard Europe's most famous train.

"But one couple must win and one dream will come true."

The final episode can be seen on BBC 2 on Wednesday, October 29 at 8pm.
