Hearing tests highlight issue

A DEVON company is offering free hearing tests as part of the Hear the World initiative.

Broom Reid & Harris, which has shops in Exeter, Newton Abbot and Sidmouth, has joined the campaign to raise awareness of hearing loss.

As part of the Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals network, the company is also sponsoring an exhibition of photography by singer Bryan Adams.

Annie Lennox, Mick Jagger and Amy Winehouse have all modelled for the photographs, which will be exhibited at London's Saatchi Gallery next month.

Curtis Alcock, from Broom Reid & Harris, said: "In the UK, people struggle with hearing loss for an average of 15 years before seeking advice, despite there being many solutions available that could make a significant difference to their lives.

"The Hear the World initiative is addressing this problem by providing support and raising awareness about hearing loss on a global scale."
