Honiton hospital's new renal unit wins a warm welcome

Dialysis treatment is available in Honiton thanks to a new unit which has opened to provide more localised care.

Up to yesterday, patients in East Devon, had to travel to Exeter for treatment but now there is a satellite renal dialysis unit at Honiton Community Hospital.

The £1.4m eight-station unit is part of Devon Primary Care Trust's aim to provide medical centres closer to people's homes, especially as some patients have to face the procedure three times a week.
