Julia backs coffee morning fundraiser

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 23:00

FORMER High Sheriff Julia Tremlett is to launch the 18th birthday of Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Morning at historic Bickham House, Kenn — her family home for 400 years.

Julia is hosting a private coffee event for Macmillan at Bickham towards the end of September and she is asking others to join in.

The coffee morning is Macmillan's flagship fundraising event, which takes place this year on or around Friday, September 26.

Last year, Devon raised a record £124,000 with 900 events. Already, more than 500 Devonians have registered to take part in this special anniversary year.

Julia was Macmillan's county chairman for many years and is a member of the charity's special events committee.

She said: "The simple act of getting together to drink coffee and have a slice of cake has changed the lives of countless local people who have been affected by cancer.

"It's so easy to take part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning, you just register by calling 0845 6021246, or visiting the website www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee, the charity will send you everything you need and every penny you raise will help to improve the lives of local people living with cancer.

"Please make every effort to be involved in this big concerted coffee campaign in Macmillan's special anniversary year — we can all make coffee and we can all help people living with cancer."
