Morris dancing is part of our heritage

Friday, August 22, 2008, 23:00

I WAS shocked and horrified to think anyone can think the art of morris dancing compares in any way to stripping, I shut my eyes when I saw morris dancers, Points of view, August 19.

A morris dance is a form of English folk dance and bears no resemblance at all to taking your clothes off for money!

Morris dancing goes back to the 15th century and is part of English heritage, and should not be confused with any other form of dancing.

So if Elaine Denning decides to close her eyes at such things, that is her prerogative.

I, however, enjoy our heritage and would much rather watch a bunch of men and women waving hankies and shaking sticks than a woman taking her clothes off in public.
