Spotlight on Bubu and his furry friends

Thursday, January 08, 2009, 23:00

VETS will celebrate Rabbit Week later this month by offering to give your fluffy friend a free "MOT".

National Rabbit Week, supported by Burgess Pet Care, is now in its third year and runs from January 24. It aims to educate people how best to care for their rabbits.

Across Exeter the four branches of City Vets — in Fore Street, Heavitree; Lovelace Gardens, Alphington; Buddle Lane, St Thomas and Whipton Village Road, Whipton — will be offering free health checks during the week. Claire Smith, 29, works at City Vets and has been a veterinary nurse for six years. She said: "During the week we are offering rabbit owners in the Exeter area free health checks. We will MOT your bunny and give you advice about preventative health care such as vaccinating, neutering and parasite control.

"We can talk to you about diet and signs to look out for which may indicate that your pet is unwell so you can bring them into us early and we can treat them quickly."

During the week City Vets will also be giving away information packs including food samples.
