Wait for noise row decision
East Devon District Council has taken out noise abatement orders against Leo and Greg Mansell and the Dunkeswell Kart Racing Club.
They run race meetings at the former Dunkeswell aerodrome, near Honiton.
District Judge Paul Farmer heard evidence at the hearing at Honiton Magistrates' Court over race day noise levels.
Some witnesses claimed noise was above permitted levels while others said they were within limits. Local residents said race day noise made their lives unbearable.
Yesterday, go-kart enthusiast Nigel Hughes told the hearing every effort was made to ensure noise is kept within permitted levels.
The judge adjourned the hearing until December 19 to allow barristers representing the council and the Mansells to comment on their submissions. On that day a decision will be made to uphold or reject the appeal or a reserved judgement will be made.
