“So what is all the fuss about Exeter's John Lewis? There is very little difference between House of Frazer and John Lewis and Plymouth's House of Frazer is twice the size of the store in Exeter, as is Plymouth's Debenhams. Also Plymouth's Marks & Spencer store is regarded as the flagship of the south west, so what is all the fuss about Exeter? Plymouth being twice the size of Exeter should obviously have a larger retail choice. But I have to say that if Plymouth don't do something about its city centre retail choice it will soon become a backwater city. Why it has not attracted an Ikea store before now, I do not know. This would certainly put Plymouth back on the retail map!”
