JON Veale has added three new players to his squad in an attempt to drag Crediton United away from the foot of the table.

The Kirton boss moved to sign central midfielder Mitchell Cudd and winger Josh Hill from Budleigh Salterton and defender John Cole from Royal Marines.

The signing spree is not likely to stop there as Veale hopes to bring in three more players to complete his squad.

"The squad is getting there and it will be finalised in the next couple of weeks," he said. "There are definitely more irons in the fire, although I can't say who yet.

"I have brought in seven players since I arrived and I will be happy with the squad once I have signed three more.

"Josh Cole and Mitch Cudd are two massive signings and now I just need a top-class centre half. Once we get that, we are pretty much there.

"I was massively disappointed that our game with Newton Abbot was called off because I had 17 players available and I was confident of winning that one.

"We go to Totnes & Dartington next week and I don't know much about them other than the pitch is not the best down there. The target is to get 12 points between now and Christmas and we are capable of doing that.

"At the end of the day I just want to stay in this league, but I would like to think that we can finish in mid-table."

Crediton currently sit third from bottom having won three from 10 games so far. However, they are five points clear of the relegation places.
