All Whites too strong for OB

Monday, October 12, 2009, 23:00

NEWTON Abbot produced a convincing display to see off strugglers St Mary's Old Boys and move up to third in South West One West.

Winless Old Boys put up commendable resistance against an All Whites outfit who put 81 points on St Ives last weekend.

They even took the lead when scrum-half Liam O'Keefe potted an early penalty.

But Abbot were soon in the lead when Alex Lloyd crossed after good work from Alex Moore.

Marc Dibble soon made it 10-3 with another try, before Lewis Ryan stretched Newton's advantage even further with a third try before the break.

Moore went over shortly after half-time as Abbot pressed home their superiority, while Nick Holt made sure of the result with a final try towards the end.

Cullompton lost for only the second time this season as they found Brixham too tough a test.

The South Devon side ran out 32-13 winners as Cully failed to recover from a decent first half by the home side. Marcus Busch, James Shere and Adam Pearce were Cullompton's points scorers.

And Sidmouth lost 27-13 at Yatton, with Tom Whelan and Glen Channing on the scoresheet.
