Exeter Phoenix - The Zen Hussies - Bristol-based festival favourites The Zen Hussies blend a diverse range of genres – R&B, ska, swing, rockabilly, calypso – into their own punked-up swingska sound. This six-piece present a high octane music revue, guaranteed to set the even the most troubled feet dancing. 8.30-10pm. £9 per ticket. Friday 8th February.
The Great Hall, Exeter University - Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra - Fingal's Cave. Enjoy an evening of outstanding classical music with the renowned Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and soloist John Lill. In a year that sees the Orchestra celebrate its 120th birthday, the BSO will collaborate with an array of the most exciting performers and exuberant conductors with it's 2012/13 season as it continues to give world-class performances throughout the South and South West. 7.30-10pm. £36 per ticket. Exeter Barnfield - The Rat Pack is Back. The hit show 'The Rat Pack is Back' perfectly captures not only the wonderful music and comedy of the original legends, but also the remarkable personalities of the stars who truly ruled the entertainment world. The Rat Pack is Back is Britain's longest running tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr. They are backed by the swinging Don Hunt band. Mr Hunt has also served as Bruce Forsyth’s musical director for over thirty years and during an amazing career has held the same role for the likes of Anthony Newley, Bing Crosby and even the real Sammy Davis Jnr. 7.30-10pm. £19 / £17.50 per person. Exeter Barnfield - Passadena Roof Orchestra. Since 1969 the Pasadena Roof Orchestra has been faithfully re-creating the glories of popular music from the 1920’s and 1930’s. The fun-packed show features timeless classics from the great American song book – those wonderful songs that miraculously lifted people’s spirits during the depression era, and which made household names of singers such as Bing Crosby, Al Bowlly, and Fred Astaire. The musicians master the arrangements and sound of the fabled American orchestras such as Duke Ellington and Fletcher Henderson, while also paying tribute to the great British dance Bands like Ray Noble or Ambrose. 2.30-5pm. Exeter Northcott - Silly Songs of Shakespeare - Originally commissioned by Theatre Royal Bath's Shakespeare's Unplugged. Silly Songs of Shakespeare is a show that does exactly what it says on the tin...there are songs, they are silly and they are based on Shakespeare. Spend an evening with 'Fearg & the Sonnettes' while they serenade you with hilarious "synopsongs" of some of Will's most famous works and illuminate a weird corner of Shakespeare's world with their witty and catchy tunes. The Bike Shed Theatre - Winter Warmed - A Festival of Samuel Beckett - Three weeks of drama celebrating the work of Samuel Beckett and featuring End Game and other plays by the acclaimed playwright. RAMM - Veolia Environnement Exhibitions Wildlllife Photographer of the Year. Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the world’s most prestigious annual wildlife photography competition. Star and co-creator of BBC Four's comedy quiz show We Need Answers, award-winning comedian Alex Horne has established a reputation among critics, comics and audiences as a thoughtful and original stand-up, writer and solo performer. 'Seven Years In The Bathroom' is the ultimate stat-based fun-packed thought-provoking experimental-and-sometimes-stupid comedy show in which Alex aims to recreate your entire life. That's right, he'll do everything you'll ever do but in one evening. So in an average lifetime you'll spend two years shopping, two weeks kissing and eighteen months looking for lost things. You'll also spend quite a while eating, queuing, crying and googling yourself. Alex is going to squeeze all those things into one show and it'll be tremendous. And very funny.
