It's time Dave came out as a real Tory
NO wonder many Tory voters like me are fed up with David Cameron's brand of Conservatism and have switched their allegiance to other parties.
Now, I am neither for nor against hunting with dogs, many people are and many are not, but he did promise during his election campaign that he would allow a free vote on a possible repeal of the unworkable hunting ban.
Guess what? Now that he has hooked up with the Liberals, who not so long ago he thought were a joke, who are firmly against a repeal he dropped his pledge from the Queen's Speech, saying it was no longer a priority.
Using dogs to hunt foxes and deer was banned in 2004 under the Hunting Act.
During his election campaign to get a working majority mandate to govern, Dithering Dave warned that the Act was a bad piece of legislation and the country would be better off if it was ditched.
He was backed by Foreign Secretary William Hague who also said it was a prejudiced law which was not workable.
However, the Liberal Democrats under their baby-faced leader Nick Clegg consider the issue settled and risk being split if the vote went ahead.
As a compromise the coalition agreement pledged to allow MPs to vote on whether or not a substantive motion or repeal should be brought forward.
The decision on repeal — if ever held — would be a free vote allowing individual MPs to vote with their conscience. But even this watered-down pledge was not in the Queen's Speech and therefore it cannot be debated for up to a year.
Oh what a truism is the saying: Conscience doth make cowards of us all.
Come on Dave, divorce Nick from this 'unworkable marriage' and come out as a real Conservative.
If you don't get a grip Nice Nick will quietly and consistently start to ride roughshod over many Tory policies which are at odds with the Liberals.
Many grass root Conservatives are already seething over the amount of compromise you have handed to Nick Clegg.
Making Nick Clegg Deputy Prime Minister with such powers was a foolish move which you might live to regret.

“So what party have you switched your allegiance to, Colin - Socialist Worker's Party, New Labour, The Greens? Do tell!”
